The elephant is considered a very auspicious symbol. There are many symbolic associations attributed to elephants; strength, wisdom, longevity, prosperity, good luck, prudence, fertility, sexual power. It is one of the most positive animal symbols known.
The position of the trunk has a role in the auspicious symbolism. The trunk of an elephant should always be facing upwards in Western culture and downward in Eastern cultures. Trunks facing upwards represents prosperity, good luck and trunks facing downward represents longevity and conception.
